Take it to the Dance Floor!!
Good evening, its DJ Jimmyz, I am baaaaaaaaaack I hope u missed me. I was wondering, when it was time to take it to the dance floor, what song got ur dancin feet in motion, what song put the boogie in ur step? I know there should be a long list of songs; some disco, some rock and roll, rap, funk, r&b, even country.
When the time came for me to make it to the dance floor, I heard "Its my Life" by Talk Talk; also, back in the day, Change, "Glow of Love", so many songs I could go on and on. Its interesting how so many types of music and the songs associated with them have such an effect on our urge to dance. Artists such as; Prince, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, the Commodores, Kool and the Gang, U2, the 80's retro, the Rolling Stones, Gloria Gaynor (more from the Disco era), and the list goes on and on.....................from way back til today music has brought millions of dance enthusiasts on to the dance floor and transformed us into a "Tony Manero ala Saturday Night Fever" or a dancing fool of some sort. It does not matter what song did it, the urge to boogie down is quite the phenomenon, so keep dancing and let me know ur song that got u out on the dance floor, c'mon don't be shy.
Until we meet again, DJ Jimmyz will retreat to the Mothership, keep the grooves flowing and go dance ur asses off!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep track of ur favorite songs or......................else!!
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaack DJ Jimmy can't sleep and sometimes forgets the title or artist of songs, yes I have found myself in that uncomfortable position when I have one of those "senior moments" Yikes!!
Do you ever get that moment when u go blank and can't remember the name or artist of that song, well it happened to me. I tried Youtube, I heard it on WBLS and was going to call and ask for the name of the song, forgot, over the years heard it, heard it and forgot it (the name/artist that is). Ok, so what should I do? I ran out of resources. Tonight (Aug. 11th in Manhattan) sweet redemption, I finally found what I was looking for it was at a coffee/dessert bar so to speak, and the young waitress (Alexia) very helpful asked me to give her a line from the lost song, I remembered a line and told her, she said "wait a minute and I can tell u the name and artist" shortly after just like magic she wrote down the name and artist for me, shazam, yes that was the answer to my forgotten song. I learned its an app to use on ur smartphone to locate songs w/lines or humming tunes, etc. modern technology for me its come into the 21st century, Duh!!!!!!
And now the good news, the song, "All My Love", and the artist; L.A.X. finally the weight was lifted from my shoulders now I could rest easy. It truly was an exciting evening, simple fun things like this give me joy, sad yes but true :-). Good night all u soul searchers, groovesters, funksters, and rock and rollers the Mothership has landed mission accomplished, Peace, Love and Soul!!!

Keane - A Bad Dream and One cool song!!
Tonight I discovered my cool songs and I imported this one from You tube so the song I picked tonight is "Bad Dream" by Keane. I first came upon the song when the T.V. show, The O.C. was on several years ago, yes I was a fan. I heard the song and it stuck in my mind ever since the show was on. Its funny how songs illicit certain emotions well Bad Dream for some reason makes me feel sad and good. When I think about certain things in my life this song boosts my morale, yes it does. I have found that music brings about all the emotions, gives me strength when I am down and makes me cry when I feel like crying and makes me wanna dance when I want to dance my ass off.
Music is part of my life and highlighting cool songs that mean something to me will take my Blog to another part of my musicality in my world where all things music all the time, so all u groove masters, funksters and rockaholics take a listen and see where ur mind goes hopefully u2 will fly like an eagle into the magical musical world. Peace, Love and Soul and all things Music, Rock on!!!!!!

Where have all the Rock groups gone, gone to??????
Welcome all u late nite music creatures of the night, I hope there are some of u out there curious about where music is heading. I wonder after watching the Grammys, the AMA's (that is the American Music Awards), where has "real" music gone, lyrics, originality, etc.
Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Lady Ga Ga, thats not music its glorified pop garbage, tonight my rant is with Rock, I don't understand why we have no true Rock artists. The Alternative groups r good but that genre is fading Heavy Metal has disappeared along with Grunge however groups like; Pearl Jam,Kings of Leon, The Muse, give us hope, the Indie bands r cool, again remember The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Queen, those Rock bands were Artists, get the picture? I have to admit growing up on LI in my High School years rock was not on my playlist, as I grew up I matured and my music tastes expanded. I fell into the 80's with Depeche Mode, The Cure, U2, Duran Duran, and more.............. and more they were all cool, U2 has lasted but they are almost past their prime they will continue to put albums, etc. but its time for a new era of some form of Rock and Roll to emerge from the ashes. I hope for musics sake that it will take a turn for the better so that Rock purists will be proud and so my rants can be tempered and I will have to keep my mouth shut but that will not happen here in music land where all music all genres are fair game for me, DJ Jimmyz I will speak my mind whenever I want, Good night all, Peace Love and Rock and Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rap and Roll into tomorrow!!! Hip Hop for All!!
Greetings music lovers, I am here on the late night Mothership an off shoot from the Parliament Funkadelic era, along w/ the main funkster, George Clinton. This is my Mothership, my home base, this is where the grooves flow and the ideas r mixed up and spread throughout the music sphere, ru on board with my concept? Tonight I feel like going back to Rap, the Old Skool style ala, Public Enemy, Run DMC, EPMD, LL Cool J, Krs-One, Mobb Deep, I know there are more who were the pioneers of Rap so I acknowledge all those artists who paved the Rap path for the likes of today's masters of Rap; Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, TI, Young Jeezy, Nas, Eminem, Drake, etc. get the picture ? When Rap started there was feeling, cool lyrics, a statement, some vulgarity but not over the top. What happened? Rap like Sports and Entertainment has gotten way out of hand and over saturated making the product boring. The Old Skool Rappers owe it to today's artists to set them straight, politics, racial injustice, etc. are cool to rap about, and all the other issues can be used but don't abuse. Too many artists and not enough quality make for dull and overused Rap not enough creativity. I guess what I am trying to say is Old Skool no matter what genre will always be there now it needs to make a comeback with new Artists we can say Old Skool Rap w/a twist, a new flava (get it?) A new idea on an Old fave.
I believe I have ventured into the archives of Rap and tried to get out the message about the Rap genre, lets take Rap into the 21st century with style and flair giving props to the Pioneers of Hip Hop, U know how we used to roll, can u feel my groove all u hipsters, funksters, and grooveaholics? Remember to take a ride into the stratosphere of music when the sun goes down "The freaks come out at night"! (remember the song?)
My name is DJ Jimmyz and u have entered my world so now its time to sign off, Peace, Love and Soul to the Music Universe :-)
